Selling Home Textiles and Bath Products on Amazon: Towels, Peshtemals, Bath Mitts and Sets

Selling home textiles on Amazon means listing bath and home textile products such as towels, peshtemals, bathrobes and bath mitts on Amazon and selling them through FBA. Many manufacturers are strong producers in this category, and cotton quality and weaving tradition are values that buyers in the U.S. and Europe recognize.

The category is not empty. Towel and peshtemal searches return many sellers, and the leading brands have thousands of reviews. The difference often comes less from the product itself and more from how it is presented: materials, set design, images and timing.

In this article, we explain how a manufacturer can bring home textile and bath products to Amazon, which product falls under which rule, and why building a set instead of selling a single item can work.

Which Amazon category do home textiles sell in?

On Amazon U.S., towels, peshtemals and bathrobes are listed in the bath linens section of the Home & Kitchen family, while bath mitts, exfoliating gloves and soap are listed in the Beauty & Personal Care family. Amazon requires approval before selling many products in the beauty family; bath salts and soaps are among the products that do not require approval. Because the exact subcategory depends on how the product is defined, it usually makes sense to check the category in Seller Central before listing.

How competitive are towels and peshtemals on Amazon?

Peshtemals and towels are a crowded space on Amazon. In the U.S., peshtemals are mostly sold as beach, bath and travel towels, and brands with high review counts hold the first page. For a new brand, entering with towels alone can push up the advertising budget.

Two paths stand out here: either build a clear difference through weave, weight and certification (such as organic cotton or Oeko-Tex), or offer the towel as part of a set rather than on its own. We review product options on the towel side in our towel comparison article.

Why can niche products like silk bath mitts stand out?

Most bath mitts and exfoliating gloves on Amazon are made of viscose or synthetic fabric. A 100 percent silk bath mitt can stand out in this crowd both through its material and through the story of the traditional bathhouse ritual. Stating the material clearly on the product page and using images that show how it is used make this difference visible.

The point to watch is claim language. Usage descriptions such as “helps remove dead skin” do not cause problems; statements saying it treats skin conditions, however, can place the product under a different set of rules.

Single product or bath set?

A single bath mitt or a single towel is a low-priced product; once FBA and advertising costs are factored in, the margin narrows quickly. A bath set made up of a bath mitt, a peshtemal and olive oil soap, on the other hand, raises the order value and makes the product visible in gift searches.

OptionAdvantageWhat to watch
Single product (towel or bath mitt)Low entry cost, quick testingThin margin, heavy competition
Multipack (color or size set)Higher order value, same product groupSetting up variations correctly
Bath set (bath mitt, peshtemal, soap)Visible in gift searches, price advantageEach product's own rules, bundle rules
Gift boxDemand around the holidays and special occasionsBox design and FBA packaging

When building a set, Amazon's bundle rules need to be checked. Amazon expects the products in a bundle to come from the same brand and the bundle to be offered by the brand owner; since October 2024, combining products from different companies in the same bundle has been restricted for bundles that include consumable items such as soap. An authorization letter from the brand owners may be requested for a multi-brand bundle, and the current conditions should be confirmed in the bundle policy in Seller Central. For this reason, preparing the set under a single brand makes the process easier.

How do labeling and registration work for home textiles?

Each product in the set falls under a different rule, but the burden is often lighter than expected:

  • Towels and peshtemals: In the U.S., these fall under the FTC's textile rule. The label shows the fiber content (as percentages), the country of origin and the manufacturer's name or RN number.
  • Kese mitt: The rule does not name it specifically; giving the same details on the label (100 percent silk, country of origin, manufacturer) is the sensible choice, and it also communicates the product's quality.
  • Olive oil soap: True soap marketed only for cleansing falls under the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), not the FDA. If the soap is sold with a claim such as “moisturizes,” it is treated as a cosmetic, and FDA cosmetic rules, facility registration and product listing (MoCRA) apply.

We cover the cosmetics side in our article on selling cosmetics on Amazon US, and the general labeling rules in our article on U.S. labeling rules.

How should home textile images be prepared for Amazon?

Amazon’s main image rule is clear: a pure white background, the product filling 85 percent or more of the frame, at least 1000 pixels on the longest side (for zoom), and no text, logos or promotional messages in the main image. For a set, showing all pieces together and neatly arranged in the main image helps shoppers understand what they are buying at a glance.

The other images are the ones that sell: a close-up of the texture, the towel folded and unfolded, how the mitt sits in the hand, the set coming out of its box, and the product in use in a bathroom setting. The product’s story can be told in these secondary images and in A+ content.

Why does the gifting season matter for home textiles?

Bath sets and towel sets are often bought as gifts. In the U.S., November and December, from Black Friday through New Year’s, is the busiest gifting period of the year; Mother’s Day is a second peak for this product group. For a set to be ready in time for these periods, production, box design and FBA shipping usually need to be planned a few months ahead.

Gift notes and gift wrap can be enabled from the gift options setting in Seller Central; these options are turned off by default. Because FBA gift wrap may not be available for some products due to size and shape, it is worth checking product by product.

How do home textiles differ on Amazon US, Germany and the UK?

Towels and bath products sell in all three markets, but how the product is used and where competition is concentrated differ. The table below is based on what review articles and retailer pages show; current Amazon rankings should be checked separately for each product.

MarketLeading brandsHow the product is soldObservation
U.S.For peshtemal towels: Cacala, Smyrna, WETCAT, Bosphorus (with thousands of reviews, according to review articles); for mitts, mostly Moroccan kessa (Natural Elephant, Rituals)Peshtemal sold as a beach, bath and travel towelTowels are crowded; no standout brand was seen in silk kese mitts
GermanyFor Hamamtuch: Carenesse, Mevlys, LeStoff, my Hamam; for mitts: CarenesseAs a beach, bath and especially sauna towelMitts face a tight price band of around €4-8; silk mitts appear only in a premium position (around €19.90)
UKFor towels: LeStoff, Demmex, Cacala (£19-24)Beach, sports and travel towel; gift sets mostly sold outside Amazon (Rituals, Silas)Towels are strong on Amazon; mitts and bath sets appear less often

The table says two things. Towels and peshtemals are crowded in all three markets; entering with towels alone can be difficult for a new brand. Silk mitts and bath sets look less crowded on Amazon; there may be room, especially in the U.S. and the UK, to position them as gift sets. We cover pre-sale registrations for Germany in our guide to selling on Amazon Germany, and the Germany-specific textile process in our article on selling textiles on Amazon Germany.

How are home textiles shipped to Amazon?

Products travel to the U.S. by air or sea, clear customs through the importer of record and are delivered to Amazon’s FBA warehouses. Because duty on textile products varies with fiber content and tariff classification, costs should be calculated product by product.

Frequently asked questions

Which textile products can be sold on Amazon?

Home and bath textiles such as towels, peshtemals, bathrobes, duvet covers and exfoliating mitts can be sold on Amazon. For textile products, the label needs to show fiber content, country of origin and manufacturer information.

Can silk exfoliating mitts be sold on Amazon?

Yes. Because a mitt is a grooming tool, it does not require FDA registration; it is generally enough for the label to show material, country of origin and manufacturer, and for claims to stay limited to describing how it is used.

Can I sell a wholesale-produced product on Amazon under my own brand?

Yes. Selling under your own brand requires enrolling the brand in Amazon Brand Registry and preparing the product images and descriptions under that brand.

Does olive oil soap require FDA registration?

True soap marketed only for cleansing is not regulated by the FDA. If the soap is sold with moisturizing or skin care claims, it is treated as a cosmetic and FDA cosmetic registration rules apply.

Conclusion

Amazon home textiles is a crowded category; but a distinctive material such as silk, a well-built bath set and a plan timed to the gifting season can set a product apart from ordinary towels and mitts. When registration, labeling, images and shipping are set up correctly from the start, the product can be tested both on its own and as a set.
