Selling on Amazon US: Account, FBA, Compliance and Launch in One Plan
Selling on Amazon US is the model in which a manufacturer sells its product to American consumers on Amazon.com and delivers it from Amazon's FBA warehouses. Export Partners is an Amazon SPN verified team that runs this entire process on behalf of manufacturers, from account setup and product compliance to trademark registration, the first shipment and launch.

How does selling on Amazon US work?
Amazon.com is Amazon's largest marketplace and is managed from a single dashboard through the North America unified account (U.S., Canada, Mexico). A company registered in your country can open a seller account directly; forming a U.S. company is not required, but a U.S. LLC often makes things easier for banking, taxes and approvals in certain categories.
The product is shipped to the U.S. via FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon): cartons leaving your country enter Amazon's U.S. warehouse, and when an order comes in, Amazon packs and delivers it. In this model, the product's legal entry into the U.S. (customs and, where required, FDA registration and labeling) should be resolved before sales begin; Amazon warehouses do not handle customs or FDA procedures.
To protect your brand and unlock A+ content, a USPTO trademark application and Brand Registry enrollment are completed; for those who want to open the account under a U.S. legal entity, LLC formation runs in the same plan. FDA registration, required for products such as food, cosmetics and supplements, is a separate service and is aligned with the Amazon timeline.
Who is it for?
Manufacturers with their own brand
Sellers who want experts to run launch and advertising

What registrations are required to sell on Amazon US?
| Registration | Purpose | When |
|---|---|---|
| Seller account | In the name of your home-country company or a U.S. LLC; identity, address and bank verification | At the start |
| U.S. LLC and EIN (optional) | To open the account under a U.S. legal entity and simplify banking and payments | Before opening the account |
| Product compliance, by category | FDA registration for food and cosmetics (separate service), CPC for children's products, FCC for electronics | Before the listing goes live |
| USPTO trademark and Brand Registry | For A+ content, a brand store and listing protection | With the application number, without waiting for registration |
| Customs: importer registration and bond | For regular shipments; a single-entry bond may be sufficient for small test batches | Before the first container or pallet |
| Sales tax | In most states, Amazon collects the tax itself as a marketplace facilitator | Configured during account setup |
The table summarizes which registration is needed at which stage; items may be added or removed depending on the product group. The final list is provided in writing at the first meeting.
How does selling on Amazon US work in four steps?
Account and structure
Company, trademark and category approval
Listing, A+ and FBA shipment
Launch and management

How long does it take, and how is the fee set?
| Stage | Duration |
|---|---|
| Account opening and verification | usually 1 to 3 weeks |
| LLC and EIN (optional) | usually 1 to 3 weeks |
| Listing, A+ and trademark application | 2 to 4 weeks |
| First FBA shipment and sales launch | 2 to 6 weeks depending on shipping method |
| Total, from setup to first sale | usually 2 to 3 months |
The service fee is quoted based on the number of product groups and the scope; Amazon's referral fees, FBA fees and advertising budget are separate. Package options for setup only, a 3-month launch and management plan, or a combination with company formation or trademark registration are listed on the service packages page.
Three U.S.-specific points
Customs and duties. Commercial shipments entering the U.S. require importer registration, a customs bond and tariff classification; since the de minimis exemption for small parcels was suspended in 2026, test batches may also be subject to duties based on customs value. Details are in our Amazon US customs duties and U.S. customs bond articles.
Company and banking. Selling with a company registered in your home country is possible; however, a U.S. LLC and EIN make it easier to receive payments, manage returns and obtain certain category approvals. Which structure fits best is covered in our state selection and EIN and ITIN articles.
Brand and launch. A USPTO application unlocks Brand Registry, which brings A+ content and a brand store; PPC and the first reviews are the focus of the first 3 months of a launch. The sequence and steps are in our getting started selling on Amazon guide, and the advertising side is covered on the Amazon launch and advertising page.

Frequently asked questions
No. A company registered in your country can open a seller account on Amazon.com. A U.S. LLC is often preferred for a bank account, easier payments and some category approvals; it is not mandatory, and the decision depends on the product and volume.
The sequence: account and structure decision, product compliance (FDA for food and cosmetics), trademark application, listing and A+ content, FBA shipment, launch. It usually takes 2 to 3 months from setup to the first sale.
Yes for food, supplements, cosmetics and pet products; no for categories such as textiles, home goods and accessories. FDA registration is a separate service, detailed on the FDA registration page, and it is planned together with the Amazon timeline.
Amazon does not collect customs duties; duties and customs clearance are the importer's responsibility. A commercial shipment sent to FBA needs an importer registration and, where required, a customs bond; Amazon only collects state sales tax as a marketplace facilitator.
A manufacturer listing and selling products on Amazon under its own brand. The difference from wholesale or arbitrage is that the brand and the listing belong to you, protected through Brand Registry.
Depends on scope: setup only, 3-month launch and management, or a package with FDA. The number of product groups and any category approval needs determine the price; Amazon fees, FBA costs and the advertising budget are separate.
For sellers shipping from abroad, FBA usually fits best: Amazon stores, ships, handles returns and adds the Prime badge. FBM (your own shipping) tends to make sense only for very bulky or specialty products.
Food, supplements, cosmetics, pet products, children's products and some electronics categories require documents on Amazon. In the first call, we tell you in writing which approvals your product list needs.
